The Çintemani (Chinese Cloud) is thought to have origins in the far east where it is believed to have been a Buddhist symbol. The first illustrations of the motif in Turkey were seen on the tiles of Çinili Kiosk built by the Conqueror in 1472.
From that date it has been used in almost all branches of ornamental Turkish art, having talismanic as well as royal connotations.
Through time however, the design was particularly favored on textiles made for garments and furniture. The Çintemani was a motif often seen on the Ottoman palace fabrics.
You may find at these wall sconces 'Çintemani art' at the peak of its beauty. Three different sizes and two different patterns are available for this astonishing lighting.
